More Social than Work

Thanks for visitng my blog! I decided to start this when I moved from Austin to Atlanta in the summer of 2006. I figured the new adventure would offer some fun stories to share with friends and family around the globe. I'm a Social Worker, by the way -- hence the title of the blog.

Miss You Already, Beanie

Almost nine years ago, not long after Eric and I met, we adopted our sweet cat, Sabrina. She was found when she was about one year old by a family that volunteers for a pet rescue agency. When she showed up at their door, they were watching the movie "Sabrina."

Tonight, after six weeks of being very sick, Sabrina died.

We are so sad to lose her, but we are filled with happy memories. Sabrina was pretty and loving and sweet. She was also fiercely independent, except that she liked showing off for company and would prance around the room purring anytime someone came over. When she was younger, she loved to fetch Mardi Gras beads. No one ever told her that fetching was for dogs, not cats. She slept on the corner of our bed every night, even when Toby tried to steal her place. Oh yeah, she also brought Toby to us six years ago. He showed up on the back porch as a tiny kitten and looked at Sabrina through the window for two weeks until we finally got him to come inside. She loved to be clean, and when she wasn't sleeping, she cleaned herself or sought out Toby in order to clean him. And as you can see in the picture, she kept Eric and me clean by always helping with the laundry. :)

Thanks for taking such good care of us, Beanie Bear. We'll always love you...Eric, Amy & Toby

Surprise!

My husband's birthday was yesterday, so I decided to surprise him by doing a blog post for the first time in three months. I also took him out for dinner and bought him a new iPod. You know, just in case he doesn't check my blog.
